The journey begins after Enoch is visited by two “extraordinarily large” men, whose “faces shone like the sun” and whose eyes “were like a flame” (II En 1,6). After saying goodbye to his family, Enoch is initially taken by men to the first heaven on his wings, which were "brighter than gold" (II En 3). Each of the heavens has a special feature.
